Service Parts
| Introduction As part of the pre-production preperation for new parts it is essential that we also consider the on-going supply of parts for service, both old and new level. In order to ensure preperation is complete and supply to service can be maintained at the same level as for production, in terms of Quality, Cost and Delivery, service parts preperation must be an ingeral part of the KSPQP review process. Run Out Parts Depending upon actual maket demand, it it Kasai's policy that suppliers commit to supply service parts for a service life period of a minimum of ten years following the end of vehicle production. To assist suppliers and Kasai in understanding the various supply options available to satisfy the service need, suppliers will be issued (approimately 3 months before the end of production) with a Service Parts Purchasing Part No. Run Out Matrix (Ref. Figure 1).This should be completed against an agreed timescale and submitted to Production Control, Purchasing for assessment. Subsequent supplier performance will then be monitored via KSPQP meetings. Note: The matrix is also used for design change, run out parts reinitiations and for assessing the possible impact of new parts introduction on the supply of non-current vehicle parts already in the run out supply phase. A detailed explanation of how the document should be completed will be provided by covering letter, however key areas to note:
As part of the KSPQP agenda Kasai monitor capacity for service parts on both new and previous models. All other requirements relating to service parts will be closely monitored by the KSPQP system e.g. Tool Maintenance, management of all time builds etc. Packaging Service Parts Packaging is not part of the Production returnable packaging logicstics system. Therefore, negotiations are required between supplier and Kasai Service Parts Purchasing on alternative methods of packaging/delivery. |
